John Barnes states his prediction for Exeter v Liverpool
John Barnes is tipping Liverpool to beat Exeter 2-0 in the FA Cup third round on Friday night
John Barnes is fully expecting Liverpool to make it back to back cup wins when they take on Exeter in the FA Cup on Friday night.
The Reds took a big step towards reaching the League Cup final by beating Stoke City 1-0 in the first leg of their semi-final clash thanks to Jordon Ibe’s goal at the Britannia Stadium on Tuesday night.
Liverpool have struggled to find consistent form under Jurgen Klopp since his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor back in October, despite recording impressive victories over the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City in recent months.
The Merseyside outfit kicked off 2016 with a disappointing 2-0 loss at West Ham United in the Premier League last weekend.
However, despite the Reds’ stuttering form, former Liverpool star Barnes is fully expecting to see the visitors wrap up a comfortable 2-0 win against Exeter on Friday.
Barnes wrote in his blog for Titanbet: “With the games seemingly coming every other day, a trip to Exeter on Friday awaits. With the problems we’ve talked about, playing ‘the kids’ is a topic many are talking about, but you need balance in any XI.
“I would be looking to rotate some players, but a mix of experience, fitness and some youth in these circumstances is what’s needed. Liverpool should have enough in their squad to adhere to this and get the better of their League Two opponents.
“I expect Klopp to have his team set up very aggressively against the League Two side and he’ll want to go out and build on the Stoke showing.
“Liverpool should be able to put out an XI from their squad strong enough to beat Exeter regardless of injuries.”
Liverpool are currently in eighth place in the Premier League.
