Johnny Giles issues Arsenal warning over Premier League title

Johnny Giles has urged Arsenal to seize their chance to win a fourth Premier League title this season.

Arsene Wenger’s side are top of the table thanks to a 2-0 victory over promoted side Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Monday night.

However, the Gunners suffered a shock 4-0 defeat by Southampton at St Mary’s on Boxing Day, underlining the north London side’s inconsistency this season.

Arsenal are level on points with second-placed Leicester City and three points clear of Manchester City in third place ahead of their clash against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Speaking on Newstalk’s Off The Ball show, former Leeds United and Manchester United midfielder Giles explained why he believes Arsenal have a great shot at Premier League title glory this season.

“I think the way it’s working at the moment, it gives Arsenal the best chance of winning the Premier League title in a long, long time.”

On their surprise 4-0 defeat at Southampton, Giles added:

“Arsenal got a right hiding at Southampton. It could have been 6-0, don’t mind 4-0.”

Arsenal have already lost four times in the Premier League this season following defeats by West Ham United, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton.
