Johnny Giles issues Liverpool warning over Jurgen Klopp
Johnny Giles says Jurgen Klopp won't be able to stamp his authority on Liverpool until the start of next season
Jurgen Klopp will need until the start of next season to stamp his authority on Liverpool, according to Johnny Giles.
The Reds manager has made a steady if unspectacular start to his Anfield reign after winning five of his opening 11 Premier League games so far.
He is inheriting players at the moment and you can’t put your stamp on it until you get your own players

Liverpool hoisted themselves up to seventh place and moved to within nine points of leaders Leicester City after a 1-0 victory over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night.
Klopp has inherited Brendan Rodgers’s players after the former Borussia Dortmund manager replaced the axed Northern Irishman following the Merseyside derby in October.
Former Republic of Ireland international Giles believes Klopp will require a couple of transfer windows to bring in his own players before Liverpool start to take shape under the German.
“He will need until the start of next season. Then he can really put his stamp on it because he has the January window and the whole summer to get the players in that he thinks he requires for Liverpool to do well. He is inheriting players at the moment and you can’t put your stamp on it until you get your own players.”
Giles continued: “He would be in a position to get the conditions that he feels he requires to do the job. I don’t think Brendan Rodgers had those conditions. He had the transfer committee and he didn’t have control over the players coming in and out.”
Liverpool are five points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League table following their 1-0 victory over the Black Cats thanks to Christian Benteke’s second-half winner.
