Johnny Giles: Why ‘odd’ Jurgen Klopp will be Liverpool success
Johnny Giles runs the rule over Jurgen Klopp's "odd" behaviour at Liverpool since taking over
Johnny Giles believes Jurgen Klopp will get the job done at Liverpool despite the new manager’s “odd behaviour” at Anfield.
The 48-year-old bemoaned the negative impact England’s windy weather conditions were having on his tactics ahead of Wednesday night’s 1-0 victory at Sunderland.

Klopp was also ridiculed by some former professionals after he gathered his players to salute The Kop following a last-gasp equaliser in a 2-2 draw with West Brom at Anfield in December.
The former Borussia Dortmund manager was named as Brendan Rodgers’s permanent successor in October following the Merseyside derby.
Speaking to Newstalk’s Off The Ball show, Giles explained why he believes Klopp will be a great long-term appointment for the Reds despite a number of bizarre decisions.
“He is good. He is a very good appointment for Liverpool,” Giles said.
“He was excellent in what he did at Borussia Dortmund. I expect him to be good at Liverpool. He hasn’t signed any players or put his own stamp on it yet.
“His attitude is good. He likes them to play and attack. He is very positive. I would expect him to do well in the long-term. I just find his behaviour odd at the moment. He gets the job done and he’ll get the job done at Liverpool.”
Giles continued: “I would imagine so. If he was like Guardiola and moving every three years, I’d say Klopp was headhunted at Dormtund but didn’t move and stay for seven years. It’s a long time in management now.
“Three years seems to be the limit at the moment. I reckon he’ll stay for a long time there.”
Liverpool booked their place in the Capital One Cup semi-final against Stoke City thanks to a 6-1 victory over Southampton in the League Cup last eight last month.
