Jurgen Klopp delivers latest Liverpool transfer update
Jurgen Klopp insists he has the final says over Liverpool's incoming transfers
Jurgen Klopp insists Liverpool will only sign a player if he fits into the manager’s vision for the Reds and is within the club’s budget.
Liverpool signed 19-year-old Marko Grujic from Red Star Belgrade earlier this month before the winger returned to the Serbian club on loan until the end of the 2015/16 season.
The Merseyside outfit also secured England defender Steven Caulker’s services on a temporary basis from Queens Park Rangers in a bid to ease their injury crisis at the back.
Liverpool have been linked with Southampton striker Shane Long and Schalke defensive midfielder Joel Matip in recent days.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Wednesday night’s FA Cup third-round replay against Exeter City, Klopp addressed Liverpool’s transfer policy for the January window.
“Sometimes my staff and myself have an idea with a player we know, but if I don’t want the player to come in, then he won’t come,” Klopp said.
“If a player I want doesn’t fit our budget then he will not come either.”
