Jurgen Klopp delivers Liverpool transfer update ahead of Man United clash
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp discusses talk of the Reds signing Schalke defensive midfielder Joel Matip
Jurgen Klopp has remained tight-lipped on potential Liverpool signings in the January transfer window.
The Reds have been linked with Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubayemang this month, whilst Bayern Munich playmaker Mario Gotze is another touted Liverpool target.
When something is fixed, you’re the first to know
According to the British media, Liverpool are on the verge of agreeing a deal to sign Schalke defensive midfielder Joel Matip in the summer.
Speaking at his pre-match media conference at Melwood training ground on Friday ahead of Sunday’s game against Manchester United, Klopp refused to give any clue to what further transfer business Liverpool could do this January.
“In this moment there is nothing to say about it,” Klopp said.
“I don’t know who spoke about this. When something is fixed, you’re the first to know. I will speak about it.”
Liverpool signed England defender Steven Caulker from Queens Park Rangers on loan for the remainder of the season earlier this week.
The Reds also completed a deal for Serbian teenager Marko Grujic, who was immediately loaned back to Red Star Belgrade.
Liverpool are in ninth place in the Premier League table but only three points behind sixth-placed Manchester United.
