Jurgen Klopp gives Liverpool transfer update on Alex Teixeira
Jurgen Klopp remains tight-lipped on reports Liverpool will sign Alex Teixeira
Jurgen Klopp says there is nothing to report on Liverpool’s reported attempts to sign Alex Teixeira.
The Merseyside outfit have been linked with a £24.6m bid for the Shakthar Donetsk attacker in the January transfer window.
Teixeira would be Liverpool’s third signing of this month after Marjo Grujic agreed a deal to join the Reds and Steven Caulker moved to Anfield on loan until the end of the season.
However, speaking at his pre-match media conference ahead of Tuesday night’s League Cup semi-final second leg against Stoke City, Klopp refused to give anything away when asked about speculation linking Teixeira with Liverpool.
“It’s absolutely nothing to say,” Klopp said. “Maybe it surprises you. Nothing to say to things like this.”
Shakthar playmaker Teixeira has scored 22 goals in 15 games in the Ukrainian top-flight, while the 26-year-old has netted three times in six Champions League appearances.
Liverpool were 5-4 winners against Norwich City at Carrow Road on Saturday afternoon after Adam Lallana scored a winner in the fifth minute of added time.
