eden hazard injury update

Eden Hazard will undergo a scan on Monday to determine the seriousness of his groin injury after the Belgian was forced off early on during Chelsea’s 3-0 win at Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The playmaker, who has recently been sidelined with a hip injury, appeared to be in discomfort after a run and shot early on in the first half at Selhurst Park.

Hazard, last season’s PFA player of the year, was subsequently replaced by Pedro Rodriguez in the 16th minute of the Premier League encounter.

And Hiddink revealed after the game that the west London side are waiting to assess the extent of Hazard’s latest injury setback.

Speaking at his post match news conference, interim boss Hiddink said: “Hazard sprained his leg, he has a little problem with a groin muscle.

“We will see more with an MRI scan tomorrow [Monday].”

Hazard, like many of his Chelsea team-mates, has struggled to produce consistent performances for the Blues so far this season and is yet to score in the Premier League for the west London outfit.

Saturday’s win lifted Chelsea up to 16th place in the Premier League table.

The Blues secured victory thanks to goals from Oscar, Willian and Diego Costa at a rain-drenched Selhurst Park.
