Liverpool sign Steven Caulker on loan until the end of the season from Queens Park Rangers
Liverpool have completed the signing of Steven Caulker on loan from Queens Park Rangers until the end of the season.
The England international has completed a move to Anfield until the end of the Premier League season after the Reds swiftly concluded a deal on Tuesday.
Liverpool are currently without first-choice centre-half Martin Skrtel, whilst Dejan Lovren and Mamadou Sakho are also contending with injury problems.
Liverpool confirmed that Caulker would be available to face Premier League leaders Arsenal at Anfield on Wednesday night in a statement on the club’s website.
“The relevant paperwork has been completed in time to allow the centre-back to be eligible for selection for Wednesday evening’s Barclays Premier League fixture with Arsenal at Anfield,” read a Liverpool statement.
“Caulker, who has Premier League experience as well as being capped by England, showed a willingness to commit to the Reds at short notice.”
Caulker earned his only England cap in 2012 but the centre-half has failed to build on his early promise at Tottenham Hotspur.
Caulker has previously played for Cardiff City and Southampton and he moved to QPR in 2014 but was unable to help the west London side avoid relegation.
Caulker has also had loan spells at Yeovil Town, Bristol City and Swansea City during his spell at Spurs.
