Liverpool told to sign three players in January transfer window
Danny Murphy wants to see Liverpool make a number of January signings
Danny Murphy has urged Jurgen Klopp to consider bringing in three new players in key positions during the January transfer window to boost the Reds’ hopes of securing a top-four finish this season.
The Reds made a disappointing start to 2016 when they were beaten 2-0 by West Ham United at Upton Park in their first Premier League game of the year on Saturday.
Klopp has been tasked with steering Liverpool back into the top four since his appointment as Brendan Rodgers’ successor at Anfield back in October.
However, former Liverpool midfielder Murphy feels that the Reds are in need of a number of new players if they want to challenge the likes of Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United for a place in the top four.
“I am looking at Liverpool to bring in a few because they really need to finish in the top four,” Murphy told talkSPORT.
“I think they need a goalkeeper, a centre-half and maybe if you could get someone in on loan with a bit of pace. Someone you could nick who is not playing in one of the big teams, maybe.
“Most importantly, though, they need a centre-half because I think they look vulnerable.”
Liverpool are now gearing up for their FA Cup third-round trip to Exeter on Friday night.
The Reds finished sixth in the Premier League under Rodgers last season.
