Manchester United are in talks with Benfica about signing Renato Sanches this month, say reports
Manchester United are closing in on the signing of £60m-rated Renato Sanches this month, according to reports.
The Red Devils have been reportedly holding talks with Portuguese side Benfica about bringing the 18-year-old to Old Trafford during the January transfer window.
The Daily Mail claims that United are keen to wrap up a deal for the highly-rated teenager this month to avoid a bidding war in the summer transfer window.
Sanches is understood to have a release clause of £60m in his current contract with Benfica by United are “negotiating hard” to lower the price, according to the newspaper report.
It is claimed that Benfica could be prepared to sell Sanches for around £30m if the right deal can be struck between the two clubs.
The teenager, who has 40 caps to his name at youth level, has scored two goals in 13 appearances for the Portuguese side this season.
United host Southampton in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
