Man United in transfer talks to sign £63m attacker – report
Manchester United have reportedly held talks with Real Madrid about the possibility of signing James Rodriguez this month
Manchester United have opened talks with Real Madrid about the possibility of signing James Rodriguez in a £63m deal, according to reports.
United have been heavily linked with a host of players in recent weeks as Louis van Gaal considers bolstering his Red Devils squad this month.
Van Gaal’s side have often been criticised for their lack of attacking intent during their stuttering run of form in the Premier League.
United have only won two of their last 10 top-flight games to leave them in fifth place in the Premier League table.
However, it now appears that the Old Trafford outfit are keen to address their lack of attacking quality by considering a move to sign Rodriguez, who is said to be unsettled at Real Madrid.
The Daily Express reports that United have held concrete talks with Real Madrid about the prospect of signing the Colombia attacker in recent days.
Rodriguez joined Real Madrid from Monaco in July 2014 for a fee of around £63m and the newspaper claims that he would draw a similar price tag if he were to join United.
United and Madrid were in regular contact last summer before David De Gea’s proposed transfer to the Bernabeu fell through.
