Mario Gotze comments on Liverpool transfer speculation
Mario Gotze insists that he is not thinking about a possible transfer to Liverpool this month
Mario Gotze has insisted that he is not thinking about a possible January transfer to Liverpool from Bayern Munich.
The World Cup winner has been touted as a possible target for the Merseyside outfit in recent days as Jurgen Klopp ponders bolstering his squad this month.
The Reds have been linked with a £37m bid to sign the Bayern Munich star, who is currently out injured until February.
However, Gotze himself has now played down talk of a switch to Anfield this month, although he refused to rule out a transfer to the Premier League outfit in the future.
Gotze is quoted as saying by Sky Sports: “I can rule out a move to Liverpool this winter. I don’t know where the rumours about Klopp and me are coming from.
“I have not heard anything. You should ask Klopp if he wants me at Liverpool. If he wants me, he should approach me.
“I have six nice months ahead of me. It is always annoying when you cannot play and cannot help the team.
“It is only normal that you think about things like that. But you have to look at the positives and build on those.”
The Germany international, who scored the winning goal in the World Cup final to beat Argentina in 2014, has struggled to break into the Bayern team under Pep Guardiola since joining the Bundesliga outfit in the summer of 2013.
Liverpool were held to a 2-2 draw by Exeter City in the third round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
