Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Sunderland
Mark Lawrenson is expecting to see a comfortable Arsenal victory over Sunderland in the FA Cup on Saturday
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to kick off their FA Cup title defence with a comfortable victory over struggling Sunderland at Emirates Stadium on Saturday.
The Gunners are aiming for a record 13th consecutive win in the prestigious competition as Arsene Wenger’s men bid to book their place in the last 32 of the tournament.
Arsenal have won the FA Cup for the last two seasons running and are bidding to reach the Wembley final for the third time this term.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson is not expecting the north London side to have any problems against the Black Cats, who are struggling for form in the Premier League.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “I don’t see any problems for the holders, Arsenal, especially after hearing what Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce has said about making changes because they are prioritising their Premier League game against Swansea next Wednesday.”
Arsenal head into the game on the back of their battling win over Newcastle United at The Emirates last weekend.
The Gunners are currently two points clear at the top of the Premier League table ahead of their trip to Liverpool on Wednesday night.
