Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Chelsea v West Brom
Mark Lawrenson previews Chelsea's Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge
Mark Lawrenson is fully expecting to see Chelsea continue their recent revival by beating West Bromwich Albion at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.
The Blues have enjoyed some improved form in recent weeks following Guus Hiddink’s appointment as Jose Mourinho’s successor on an interim basis.
Chelsea kicked off 2016 with an impressive 3-0 win at Crystal Palace, before beating Scunthorpe United 2-0 on Sunday to reach the fourth round of the FA Cup.
And former Liverpool man Lawrenson does not envisage any problems for Chelsea against the Baggies as they look to climb the Premier League table.
Lawrenson told BBC Sport: “Chelsea have got a spring back in their step and their creative players are suddenly starting to create again.
“West Brom will be well-drilled and well-prepared but, this time, I don’t think it will be enough.
“Can the Blues still make the top four? They have certainly got a chance. They are 13 points away at the moment but if they keep picking up wins and draws the way they have been under Guus Hiddink, that gap is going to come down very quickly.”
Chelsea are currently 14th in the Premier League table after a disastrous start to their title defence.
The west London side, who won the league and League Cup under Mourinho last term, remain 13 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur as they look to climb the table and secure Champions League qualification against the odds.
