Mauricio Pochettino addresses Tottenham transfer speculation

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino gives a transfer update

Mauricio Pochettino has remained tight-lipped on the prospect of Tottenham Hotspur making any signings in the January transfer window.

Spurs are being touted as potential Premier League title contenders after a 4-1 victory over Sunderland moved Spurs to within four points of leaders Arsenal.

Tottenham have been linked with a move for want-away West Brom striker Saido Berahino and Porto striker Jackson Martinez in the January transfer window.

However, Pochettino stated that he is happy with the makeup of his Tottenham squad heading into the final half of the Premier League season.

“I am happy with the squad we have – we have quality to fight in different competitions,” Pochettino told his pre-match media conference.

“Maybe the people or you (the media) are concerned but I am happy with the squad we have. If we are to improve we have to add the right player, but if we can’t find the right player then we will not buy anyone.”

Tottenham made a return to winning ways against the Black Cats on Saturday after a 1-0 loss to Leicester in the Premier League last Wednesday.

Christian Eriksen scored either side of half-time for the home side, whilst Mousa Dembele and Harry Kane also netted against the Black Cats.
