Mesut Ozil has jokingly suggested that Mathieu Flamini should be in the running to win this year’s Fifa Ballon d’Or award.

The winner of the 2015 prize is set to be announced on Monday evening in Zurich, with Lionel Messi the favourite to claim the prize ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar.

Ozil’s Arsenal team-mate Alexis Sanchez has been named on the shortlist for the Fifpro World XI 2015, which is also set to be announced on Monday.

However, the Arsenal playmaker feels that the Gunners’ unsung hero deserves some more recognition.

During a question and answer session on Twitter on Friday, Ozil was asked by one fan who he thinks will win the Ballon d’Or this year.

And the Germany star replied:
