Michael Owen has his say after Manchester City secure a League Cup final clash with Liverpool next month

Michael Owen has taken to social media to reveal that he is already looking forward to the League Cup final between Liverpool and Manchester City.

City confirmed their spot in the showpiece as they clawed back a first-leg deficit to win 3-1 against Everton at Etihad Stadium on Wednesday night and book their spot against the Reds at Wembley.

Liverpool secured their place in the final, which takes place on Sunday 28 February, thanks to a dramatic penalty shootout win over Stoke City at Anfield on Tuesday night.

The final gives new manager Jurgen Klopp his first chance of winning a trophy since being appointed as Brendan Rodgers’ successor in October.

And Owen was quick to react to City’s victory and what it means for Liverpool on Twitter.

Owen tweeted:

The former Liverpool and England striker also admitted that he was impressed by Everton’s showing against City at the Etihad Stadium.
