Michael Owen: Why Liverpool should take confidence from 5-4 win
Michael Owen says Liverpool should show more confidence in front of goal after 5-4 win
Michael Owen says Liverpool should be more confident in front of goal after Saturday’s 5-4 victory at Norwich City.
Roberto Firmino scored either side of half-time to take his tally to five Premier League goals for the season at Carrow Road.
James Milner and Jordan Henderson both netted in the second half to edge Liverpool into a 4-3 lead against the Canaries.
And Adam Lallana scored his first Premier League goal of the season to secure three points for the Merseyside outfit.
Speaking on BT Sport following a dramatic afternoon at Carrow Road, Owen explained why Liverpool should take confidence from their 5-4 victory.
“Scoring that many goals in one game will give them a lot of confidence – that has been the problem,” Owen said.
“The team hasn’t look like scoring too many goals in the past weeks and months. Today was different.
“Ok, the Norwich team were open at the back. But Liverpool scored five goals and they’ve got to take that forward.”
Liverpool have scored 30 goals in 23 Premier League games so far this season.
The Reds host Stoke City in the second leg of Capital One Cup semi-final on Tuesday night.
