Pat Nevin: Why Arsenal are suffering Premier League blip
Pat Nevin discusses Arsenal's worrying Premier League blip
Pat Nevin says Arsenal are going through a blip following Sunday’s 1-0 defeat by Chelsea.
The Gunners extended their winless record against the defending Premier League champions after Diego Costa scored a first-half winner at the Emirates Stadium.
Arsene Wenger’s side haven’t won in the Premier League since a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on 2 January.
The north London side are three points behind surprise leaders Leicester City following Sunday’s setback at The Emirates.
Speaking to Newstalk’s Off The Ball show, Nevin discussed Arsenal’s disappointing form in recent weeks.
“It is hard to know how to rate Arsenal,” Nevin said.
“This is beginning to feel like a blip. It isn’t a one off. They’ve had a few in the row now. There was their massive, massive chance.”
The Gunners are bidding to win their first Premier League title since 2004 after Wenger’s men managed to go the entire 2003/04 Premier League season unbeaten.
Arsenal are in third place and just two points ahead of bitter north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
Wenger’s side host Southampton in their next Premier League game at The Emirates on Tuesday 2 February.
