Paul Merson predicts the outcome of Norwich v Liverpool
Paul Merson doesn't believe Liverpool have enough to beat Norwich City on Saturday
Paul Merson says Liverpool will struggle to beat Norwich City at Carrow Road in Saturday’s early kick-off.
The Reds are winless in their last three Premier League games following defeats by West Ham United and Manchester United plus a 3-3 draw with leaders Arsenal.
Jurgen Klopp’s side secured their first win since their League Cup victory at Stoke City on Wednesday night after the 18-time English champions eased to a 3-0 triumph over League Two side Exeter City in the FA Cup third-round replay.
Merson, though, still isn’t impressed with the progress that Liverpool have made under Klopp and is backing Norwich to get something out of Saturday’s game at Carrow Road.
“I’ve been disappointed with Liverpool,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If you take away the performances at Chelsea and Man City then I don’t think a lot has changed. With the exception of Emre Can, no one ever looked like scoring in a month of Sundays against Manchester United. Christian Benteke was sat on the bench and brought on with 10 minutes to go, were Liverpool going for the draw?
“Norwich have got to win this game for me. Teams lose games and relegation battles but you can’t lose games like they did at Bournemouth, that would have worried Alex Neil. Steven Naismith is a great buy, he will bring experience and energy to the side and I expect him to do really well.
“I’m backing a draw here, I haven’t been impressed with Liverpool and Klopp has to sort out the striker issue.”
Liverpool have won their last five games against Norwich at Carrow Road in the Premier League.
The Reds are in ninth place and eight points behind Tottenham Hotspur in the race to secure the final Champions League spot.
