Paul Merson predicts where Arsenal and Man City will finish this season
Paul Merson is tipping Manchester City to win the Premier League title ahead of Arsenal this season
Paul Merson says that he now places Manchester City as the slight favourites to win the Premier League title this season over Arsenal.
The north London side head into Sunday’s showdown with Chelsea top of the table on goal difference from second-placed Leicester City.
Manchester City, meanwhile, are third in the table and just a point behind the Gunners heading into this weekend’s round of fixtures.
Arsenal have been held to successive away draws in their last two games, as their 3-3 thriller at Liverpool was followed up by a goalless stalemate at Stoke City last weekend.
And former Gunners Merson feels that Arsene Wenger will be disappointed with their recent results, which have let the chasing pack close the gap in the title race.
Merson told Sky Sports: “I think it was a bad week for Arsenal. They looked very vulnerable at Liverpool and then dropped more points at Stoke.
“I can’t see Leicester winning it now either. It was a bad weekend for them and another penalty miss comes down to the pressure of the position they’re in. At the start of the season Riyad Mahrez slots that in the bottom corner.
“I’ve changed my mind about 18 times now but it’s a really tough one to call and I’m siding with City at the moment.”
