Paul Merson states bold prediction for Liverpool v Man United
Paul Merson is expecting plenty of goals when Manchester United travel to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday
Paul Merson believes that Manchester United are likely to go all out attack when they travel to Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
Louis van Gaal has come in for plenty of criticism in recent weeks following a string of inconsistent results.
United have only won three of their last 10 Premier League games to leave them in sixth place in the table and two points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur heading into the game.
Former Arsenal star Merson feels that Van Gaal will be fed up of the criticism of his side in recent weeks and expects the Red Devils to employ an attacking approach at Anfield this weekend.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Thursday morning, former Gunner Merson said: “Van Gaal will be thinking: ‘we might as well have a go now. I can’t win. If I sit back and win a game 1-0 I get stick.’
“So I think he’ll just go out and play. He looked at Liverpool’s defending yesterday [against Arsenal] and Liverpool are a threat going forward, so I just can’t see anything but a lot of goals in this game.
“Both teams have got to win this game. I think a draw is not going to be any good for anybody.”

United, who finished fourth last season in Van Gaal’s first campaign in charge, were dumped out of the Champions League at the group stage by Wolfsburg last month.
