Paul Merson states his prediction for Chelsea v West Brom
Paul Merson says Chelsea look hard to beat and could still finish in the Premier League's top four
Paul Merson says Chelsea are outside contenders for a fourth-place finish ahead of Wednesday night’s clash against West Bromwich Albion.
The Blues are unbeaten in three Premier League games since the former Valencia manager took over the reins from axed Jose Mourinho in December.
Chelsea secured their first win of Hiddink’s second reign at Stamford Bridge last time out in the Premier League after a 3-0 win at Crystal Palace.
Former Arsenal playmaker Merson says Chelsea should beat West Brom at Stamford Bridge and cement their progress under the new manager.
Merson told Sky Sports: “Chelsea seem to have turned the corner under Guus Hiddink. They look hard to beat, efficient and are scoring goals – everything they were when they won the league last year.
“West Brom had a shocking result in the FA Cup. I know they drew, but the replay is a game they don’t need. I think Chelsea are going to go on a bit of a run, and could still get top four.”
West Brom are three points ahead of 14th-place placed Chelsea ahead of Wednesday night’s Premier League game in west London.
Chelsea have already lost nine games in the Premier League this season after a dreadful start to the defence of their top-flight crown.
