Petr Cech has taken to social media to reveal his disappointment after Arsenal slumped to a disappointing 1-0 loss to Chelsea on Sunday.

The Gunners were reduced to 10 men in the 18th minute when Per Mertesacker was shown a straight red card for bringing down Diego Costa, who was through on goal.

Costa then gave Chelsea the lead with a close-range finish in the 23rd minute at Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal struggled to find their rhythm and could not break Chelsea down as the visitors enjoyed 53 per cent of the possession in north London.

And Cech, who joined Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, could not hide his disappointment at the result, but preferred to look for the positives.

Cech tweeted on Sunday evening:

The result left Arsenal in third place in the table and three points behind leaders Leicester City heading into the final 15 games of the season.

The Gunners take on Southampton at The Emirates on 2 February.
