Ander Herrera couldn't hide his disappointment after Man United's 3-3 draw with Newcastle United on Tuesday night
Ander Herrera couldn’t disguise his disappointment after Manchester United squandered a lead to draw 3-3 with Newcastle United on Tuesday night.
England captain Wayne Rooney appeared to have scored a stunning 79th-minute winner before Paul Dummett’s deflected strike beat David De Gea on the stroke of full-time to rescue a point for the hosts.
Earlier, goals from Newcastle duo Georginio Wijnaldum and Aleksandar Mitrovic had restored parity after Rooney and Jesse Lingard had given United a commanding 2-0 first-half lead.
And Herrera, who started the game at St James’s Park on Tuesday night, ruefully admitted that United should have killed off the game much earlier.
Herrera wrote on his Instagram page: “So disappointed for the final result today ,although we did some good things to build on them , we should have killed the game very early . Thanks to our away fans , they were fantastic”
Louis van Gaal’s side dropped to sixth place in the Premier League table and eight points behind leaders Arsenal after West Ham United came from behind against Bournemouth and hoisted themselves above the Red Devils.
United make the trip to Liverpool in their next Premier League game on Sunday afternoon.
