Asmir Begovic sends a message of congratulations to Ruben Loftus-Cheek after his first Chelsea goal
Asmir Begovic has sent a message of congratulations to Ruben Loftus-Cheek after the Chelsea midfielder’s goal in a 2-0 victory over Scunthorpe.
The England Under-21 international hasn’t started a game for the Blues since Guus Hiddink took over the reins at Stamford Bridge following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
However, the Dutch coach turned to Loftus-Cheek at half-time in their third-round FA Cup tie after Diego Costa had given the hosts a 13th-minute lead.
And Loftus-Cheek sealed Chelsea’s place in the fourth-round draw thanks to his first goal for the west London side 22 minutes from time at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea number two goalkeeper Begovic was full of praise for the young midfielder: “Job done, clean sheet, and into the next round! Great support from our fans! Well done to @rubey_lcheek on his first senior goal for the club. #cfc”
Loftus-Cheek has only started one Premier League games this season, although he has made a further three appearances from the substitutes’ bench.
