Alexandre Pato is on the verge of becoming a Chelsea player after he arrived in London Wednesday to finalise his loan move to Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian’s future has been a source of relentless speculation in recent weeks and it first appeared that he was heading to Liverpool during the January transfer window.

However, Chelsea are now believed to be closing in on the signing of the former AC Milan attacker as Guus Hiddink looks to bolster his squad ahead of the final 15 games of the Premier League season.

Metro reports that Pato was due to take a medical with Chelsea on Wednesday and that the west London club will have the option to buy the forward on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
