Dejan Lovren sends message to Liverpool supporters after 1-0 League Cup victory over Stoke City

Dejan Lovren opted against providing Liverpool supporters with an update on his injury in the centre-half’s Instagram post following a 1-0 League Cup victory over Stoke City on Tuesday night.

The Croatia international was forced off in the second half of their Capital One Cup semi-final first leg at the Britannia Stadium with a suspected hamstring injury.

Liverpool midfielder Lucas Leiva was asked to become a makeshift centre-half in successive games as the Reds edged to a narrow victory over the Potters.

However, Lovren didn’t reveal the severity of the injury in his social media update on Tuesday night following Liverpool’s League Cup victory.

Lovren wrote: “Good win tonight, but nothing is done yet. Great support from our fans 💪🏻 let’s do it together to the end. #YNWA”

The £25m signing has been in impressive form for Liverpool over the past six weeks.

Lovren has been battling with France international Mamadou Sakho to partner Martin Skrtel for most of the season.
