Liverpool defender Jon Flanagan watches Oxford
Jon Flanagan put his feet up to watch Thursday night’s football ahead of Liverpool’s clash against Manchester United on Sunday.
The Reds defender isn’t expected to feature against their bitter rivals at Anfield as the full-back edges closer to match fitness following a lengthy injury lay-off.
The England international hasn’t made an appearance for Liverpool this season after undergoing surgery on a knee problem in the summer.
The 22-year-old full-back has been sidelined for over 12 months after the Reds youngster suffered a serious knee injury in 2014 following a breakthrough season at Anfield.
But Flanagan is keep up to date on his football after the defender watched Oxford ease to victory over Millwall in the Football League trophy semi-final.
Flanagan wrote on his Instagram page: “Relaxing on the couch watching Oxford vs millwall! @johnlunny33 on fire 🔥”
Flanagan, who was part of the Reds’s League Cup-winning squad in 2012, scored one goal in 25 Premier League appearances during the 2013/14 season.
The Liverpool youngster will have to dislodge right-back Nathaniel Clyne or left-back Alberto Moreno to get back in Jurgen Klopp’s side.
