Jordan Henderson praises the mentality of Jon Flanagan after Liverpool defender's return
Jordan Henderson has welcomed the return of Jon Flanagan from injury in Liverpool’s FA Cup victory.
The 23-year-old was a 51st-minute substitute in Liverpool’s 3-0 victory over Exeter City at Anfield in their third-round replay on Wednesday night.
Flanagan’s second-half introduction was his first appearance for the Merseyside outfit in 619 days after a prolonged spell on the sidelines with a knee injury.
Liverpool captain Henderson, who has dealt with his own injury problems this season, was full of praise for his team-mate on his Instagram page.
Henderson posted the above photo and wrote: “Great to see you back mate! Been a tough time for you and you have dealt with everything brilliantly. I’ve seen how hard you have worked and now you can get back to what you do best! Can’t wait to be playing along side you again! @jonflan38 👊”
Liverpool eased into the fourth round courtesy of goals from Joe Allen, Sheyi Ojo and Joao Teixeira on Wednesday night.
The Reds will host West Ham United in the next round of the FA Cup at Anfield.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are on the brink of reaching the League Cup final after easing to a 1-0 win against Stoke City in the first leg of their semi-final.
