Mamadou Sakho thanks Liverpool fans for their support after disappointing 1-0 loss to Man United
Mamadou Sakho has thanked Liverpool fans for their support during Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Manchester United.
The Reds were on top for most of the north-west derby but the home side couldn’t capitalise on their superiority as Emre Can, Roberto Firmino and Adam Lallana were all thwarted by United goalkeeper David De Gea.
Wayne Rooney punished the hosts for being wasteful when the United skipper was quickest to the rebound when Marouane Fellaini’s header hit the cross and powered his finish past Simon Mignolet in the 78th minute.
Liverpool defender Sakho took to Twitter to reflect on a disappointing result for Jurgen Klopp’s side after extending their winless run to three games in the Premier League.
Sakho wrote: “Disappointed but i would like to thank you for your support today 👏 #YNWA #LiverpoolFC”
Sakho returned from injury to face Arsenal in their 3-3 draw at Anfield in the Premier League on Wednesday night.
The France international moved to Liverpool in a £16m deal from Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain in 2013.
