Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin dedicates on Instagram message to Southampton

Morgan Scheiderlin still has a lot of affection for Southampton despite swapping St Mary’s for Old Trafford last year.

The France international joined Manchester United in a £25m deal from Southampton in the summer transfer window.

Schneiderlin was ever-present as the French midfielder helped the Saints hoist themselves from League One to a top-ten Premier League side over the course of his seven-year Saints career.

The 26-year-old has been in and out of Louis van Gaal’s starting line-up so far this season as he competes with Michael Carrick and Bastian Schweinsteiger for a starting spot.

Schneiderlin is eagerly anticipating the prospect of facing the club that taught him so much at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon if selected by Van Gaal.

Schneiderlin posted the above photo on his Instagram page and wrote the following caption: “Can’t wait to play @SouthamptonFC again this wknd.
Great club that taught me so much…”

These Oulala stats show, though, that Schneiderlin hasn’t quite hit his Southampton heights at Old Trafford so far.

Schneiderlin has scored one goal in 16 Premier League games for United.
