Mathieu Flamini reflects on Arsenal's goalless draw with Stoke City on Sunday
Mathieu Flamini talked up Arsenal’s character after Sunday’s goalless draw with Stoke City.
The Premier League leaders were unable to find a winner against a stubborn Potters defence at the Britannia Stadium.
Flamini started the Premier League clash alongside Wales international Aaron Ramsey in the heart of Arsene Wenger’s midfield.
The 31-year-old was pleased with a point at a ground where Arsenal have a poor record over the past five years.
Flamini posted the above photo and wrote on his Instagram page: “We fought hard today and showed a lot of character..! Thanks to the fans who travelled up for their fantastic support. #arsenal #gunners #premierleague”
The former AC Milan midfielder has been enjoying a run in Wenger’s first-team thanks to the continued absence of Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin.
However, Flamini is facing increased competition for a starting spot after Wenger signed Mohamed Elmeny from Basel in the January transfer window.
Arsenal host Chelsea in the Premier League at the Emirates Stadium next Sunday.
The Gunners are top of the Premier League table ahead of Leicester City on goal difference.
