Mathieu Flamini sends message to Arsenal supporters after 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday

Mathieu Flamini has thanked the Arsenal supporters for their unwavering backing after an edgy 1-0 victory over Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

Arsene Wenger’s side cemented their place at the top of the Premier League table thanks to Laurent Koscielny’s late winner at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal are two points clear of second-placed Leicester City ahead of their trip to bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League game at Anfield on 13 January.

French midfielder Flamini posted a message on his Instagram page following Arsenal’s unconvincing win against the Magpies.

Flamini wrote: “First win of the year💪🏼Well done to the team..!! Great support from the fans today!! Happy New Year everyone.🎉🎉 #arsenal #gunners #premierleague”

The 31-year-old midfielder completed 90 minutes of Arsenal’s 1-0 win against Steve McClaren’s Newcastle side.

Flamini has started seven Premier League games this season as well as coming off the bench to feature in a further three games.
