Arsenal stars Theo Walcott and Per Mertesacker have been working on their goal celebration

Theo Walcott and Per Mertesacker isn’t a combination that immediately springs to mind when you think of Arsenal double acts.

Olivier Giroud and Mesut Ozil have been responsible for most of Arsenal’s goals this season, whilst the German World Cup winner has also struck up a good understanding with Chile international Alexis Sanchez.

However, Mertesacker and Walcott have been working on their goal celebration this season, despite the towering centre-half not having too many creative bones in his body, unlike Ozil.

But Walcott is loving his shared joke with the Germany international after the Arsenal striker posted the below snap on his Twitter page.

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the Premier League table after a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.

Mertesacker’s centre-half team-mate Laurent Koscielny scored a 70th-minute winner against the Magpies in north London to leave Arsenal two points clear of second-placed Leicester City.
