Maria Sharapova was presented with a celebratory cake after securing her 600th career win at the Australian Open on Friday.
The Russian won 6-1 6-7 (5-7) 6-0 against American Lauren Davis to book her place in the fourth round of the year’s first grand slam tournament to set up a clash with Swiss teenager Belinda Bencic in the last 16.
Sharapova, 28, is only the 17th woman to reach 600 career wins — and the fourth active player behind Serena and Venus Williams and Jelena Jankovic.
She was presented with a special cake on Friday after her match by Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley following her achievement.
“I think it’s a proud number. I’ve played for many years,” said Sharapova.
“I don’t think about those numbers until I finish the match and someone does mention it.
“I think it’s a good fact that I’ve been able to win that many matches.”
