Reported Liverpool target tells club he wants Anfield transfer – report

Liverpool are closing in on a transfer deal to sign Alex Teixeira, according to reports

Alex Teixeira has told Shakhtar Donetsk he wants to sign for Liverpool ahead of any other club, according to reports.

The Reds have been heavily linked with a January swoop for the forward in recent days as Jurgen Klopp considers bolstering his attacking options at Anfield.

Chelsea have also been touted as a possible destination for Teixeira, with Roma and Inter Milan said to be interested in his services as well.

However, it now appears that the player is closing in on a move to Anfield.

Sky Sports reports that Teixeira has informed his current employers that he would favour a move to Liverpool ahead of any other suitors.

Should he move to the club, Teixeira would become Liverpool’s third signing of the month after Marjo Grujic agreed a deal to join the Reds and Steven Caulker moved to Anfield on loan until the end of the season.
