Ticket demand for the 2016 Six Nations is expected to be second only to Coldplay’s tour this year, according to sales data from Viagogo.

Currently the top event on viagogo’s platform is Coldplay, which so far this year has outsold Adele’s UK tour by 4:1, despite a highly publicised comeback from the Hello singer.

Second place in viagogo’s rankings is the RBS 6 Nations, with Scotland’s tournament kicking-off at BT Murrayfield v England next month, suggesting there has been huge demand off the back of Scotland’s highly successful 2015 Rugby World Cup campaign which saw them reach the Quarter Finals.

AC/DC have claimed a top spot in viagogo’s rankings, although it seems the return of some of the biggest pop stars has pushed their 2015 top spot down to 5th place based on current sales on viagogo’s site.

Once again, American sports have secured a place in viagogo’s top ten events, further highlighting the passionate fanbase of NFL supporters in the UK, with Brits making the most of American sports performing on their doorstep at Wembley Stadium.

Surprise contenders, Muse and Rod Stewart, are currently the top 8th and 10th respectively in terms of sales on viagogo’s site, suggesting the English rock band and golden oldie still have what it takes in the battle against music sensations such as Coldplay, Adele and Justin Bieber.

Predicted most popular UK events of 2016:

RBS 6 Nations
Justin Bieber
NFL International Series (Wembley Stadium)
Betway Premier League Darts
Rod Stewart

A spokesperson for viagogo commented: “2016 is most definitely set to be a mammoth year for music. With some of the biggest names performing their comeback tours this year, we have already seen fans desperate to secure their place at this year’s hottest music shows.

“Now that the Rugby World Cup is over, rugby fans have continued their support and have shown huge demand for next month’s RBS 6 Nations, outstripping demand for this year’s most talked about artist, Adele.”
