Sporting director comments on reports linking ex-Man United star to Arsenal
Bayer Leverkusen do not want to sell Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window
Bayer Leverkusen sporting director Rudi Voller has poured cold water on reports that Arsenal could be set to sign striker Javier Hernandez in the January transfer window.
The Gunners have been linked with a number of players in the build-up to the mid-season window as Arsene Wenger looks to bolster his squad and prepare Arsenal for the second half of the season.
Wenger watched his Arsenal side move two points clear at the top of the Premier League table thanks to a 1-0 win over Newcastle United on Saturday, and then hinted that he is looking to sign two players in the next 10 days.
Hernandez has been touted as a possible target for the Gunners in recent weeks after he was deemed surplus to requirements at Manchester United and was subsequently sold to Leverkusen last summer.
However, Leverkusen chief Voller appears to have indicated that the Bundesliga club have no intention of selling the Mexico international this month.
Voller is quoted as saying by Tuttomercatoweb: “We’re not interested in selling Hernandez neither Arsenal nor to any other team in January.”
