Steve McManaman has urged Arsenal to spend in the January transfer window to cement their Premier League title bid this season.
The Gunners are top of the Premier League table thanks to a 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal side limped over the line after centre-half Laurent Koscielny’s 71st-minute headed winner against the Magpies.
Speaking ahead of Saturday afternoon’s clash in north London, former Real Madrid midfielder McManaman explained why Wenger must strengthen this month to capitalise on their title chance.
“Arsenal should strengthen if they want to win the league because they won’t have a better opportunity than this year,” McManaman told BT Sport.
The Gunners have been linked with a move for Basel midfielder Mohamed Elneny and Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema in the January transfer window.
