Stuart Pearce predicts where Man United, Arsenal will finish this season
Stuart Pearce feels that Arsenal are title contenders, while Manchester United have been too inconsistent
Stuart Pearce believes that the Premier League title race will come down to a straight shootout between Arsenal and Manchester City – and says Manchester United are not contenders this season.
The Gunners and the Citizens have emerged as the main contenders to win the title with most bookmakers this season, with Arsenal having moved two points clear at the top of the table over the weekend.
United returned to winning ways on Saturday as they notched up a 2-1 victory over Swansea City at Old Trafford to move to within three points of fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
However, the Red Devils’ winless run of eight games in all competitions has prompted many to rule United out of the title race this season.
And former Manchester City boss Pearce feels that United have not shown the consistency needed to win the title at any stage this season.
Speaking on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning, Pearce said: Definitely Arsenal, definitely Manchester City [are in the title race]. Possibly Leicester and possibly Tottenham.
“I don’t they [United] have shown a level of consistency this season so far to suggest that they’re in the title race.”
