Thierry Henry tells Man United to appoint this man as new manager
Thierry Henry says Manchester United should seriously consider making a move to bring Jose Mourinho to Old Trafford
Thierry Henry has urged Manchester United to appoint sack Louis van Gaal and appoint Jose Mourinho as their next manager.
Van Gaal’s position at Old Trafford has been under relentless scrutiny in recent weeks following the Red Devils’ stuttering form.
The Dutchman’s side are currently facing a fight to secure qualification for next season’s Champions League, with United five points adrift of the top four after a dismal run of just two wins from their last 10 top-flight games.
Mourinho has been touted as a potential successor for Van Gaal at United ever since he was sacked by Chelsea in December following their disastrous start to their title defence.
And former Arsenal striker Henry feels that United should consider appointing Mourinho as their next manager to help the club move back towards the pinnacle of English football.
Writing in his column for The Sun, Henry said: “The club are crying out for success and Mourinho guarantees that, in spite of everything that happened at Chelsea this season.
“He is still an amazing coach and United have got to do something because it is simply not working for Louis van Gaal.
“If Manchester City get Pep Guardiola and Diego Simeone or Jorge Sampaoli go to Chelsea, which is possible this summer, United have to react.
“They can’t just carry on as they are.”
