Tony Cascarino: This is only positive Arsenal can take from Newcastle win
Tony Cascarino says three points was the only plus point for Arsenal after unconvincing 1-0 win against Newcastle United
Tony Cascarino says three points was the only one positive for Arsenal to take from their 1-0 victory over Newcastle United at The Emirates on Saturday.
France defender Laurent Koscielny scored a 72nd-minute winner after Aleksandar Mitrovic and Georginio Wijnaldum missed great chances for the visitors.
It was a game where the only positive was the fact they got the victory
Arsenal are two points clear at the top of the Premier League table after Leicester City played out a goalless draw with Bournemouth.
But former Chelsea striker Cascarino was underwhelmed by Arsenal’s performance after Newcastle dominated the Premier League clash at The Emirates.
“Arsenal were second best for large parts of the game at the Emirates but they got the win,” Cascarino told Sky Sports.
“It was a game where the only positive was the fact they got the victory. Olivier Giroud did okay up front and Laurent Koscielny took his goal well, but apart from that there were few positives for Arsenal to look back on.”
Arsenal have won 13 of their 20 Premier League games so far this season, which includes victories over Manchester United and Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners have lost to West Ham United, Chelsea, West Bromwich Albion and Southampton so far this term.
Wenger’s side make the trip to bitter rivals Liverpool in their next Premier League game at Anfield on 13 January.
