Melchiot, Marsh and more: Twitter reacts as Chelsea beat Arsenal 1-0

Mario Melchiot and Rodney Marsh both tweet their thoughts after Chelsea sealed a 1-0 win over Arsenal at The Emirates on Sunday

Chelsea dealt a blow to Arsenal’s title hopes as they snatched a 1-0 win at Emirates Stadium thanks to Diego Costa’s first-half goal.

The Gunners headed into the game knowing that a win would lift them back to the top of the Premier League table but started slowly as Chelsea got the upper hand.

The home side were reduced to 10 men in the 18th minute when Per Mertesacker brought down Costa, who was through on goal.

The Spain international then made it 1-0 when he finished from close range in the 23rd minute in north London.

Arsenal failed to gain a foothold in the game as Chelsea produced a stubborn display against their London rivals to grind out the win.

The defeat left Arsenal, who have not won the title since 2004, third in the Premier League table and three points behind leaders Leicester City in the table.

Sunday’s result inevitably prompted plenty of activity on Twitter – and here are some of our favourite updates.
