Alan Shearer states prediction about Louis van Gaal’s Man United future

Alan Shearer doesn't believe Louis van Gaal will see out the season at Manchester United

Alan Shearer believes Louis van Gaal will be lucky to remain as Manchester United manager until the end of the Premier League season.

United were left red-faced in the Europa League on Thursday night after a 2-1 loss to Danish champions FC Midtjylland in the first leg of their last-32 tie.

He looks like a defeated man

The Red Devils have lost their last two games in all competitions and have only won two of their last six following a miserable run over the past three months.

Jose Mourinho, who was sacked by Chelsea in December following nine Premier League defeats, is being heavily linked with the United job, whilst Ryan Giggs is thought to be another candidate.

Former Newcastle United striker Shearer says Van Gaal is looking like a beaten man following their defeats by Sunderland and FC Midtjylland this week.

“He will be very lucky to see this out. Especially after the Sunderland performance,” Shearer told BBC Sport.

“He looks like a defeated man. I admired him for the way he kept fighting back and sticking up for his team and his club.

“But I though he looked like a defeat man after the Sunderland result and the performance mid-week in the Europa League was terrible.”
