Andy Cole: Why Ryan Giggs will be successful Man United manager

Andy Cole addresses the future of Louis van Gaal and whether Ryan Giggs is ready to manage Man United

Andy Cole says he is confident Ryan Giggs will be a successful Manchester United manager.

Louis van Gaal is facing increasingly speculation surrounding his future at Old Trafford after a mixed second season.

Former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has been heavily linked with Van Gaal’s role ahead of the summer.

Van Gaal’s assistant manager Giggs has been touted as another potential successor for the Dutchman after having worked under Sir Alex Ferguson and David Moyes.

While Cole is confident that Giggs will become a great manager, the former United striker is unsure whether this summer would be too soon for his ex-team-mate.

Cole told Yahoo Sport: “I’d like Ryan to manage United at some point. Is he ready now? Nobody knows, not even Ryan.

“All I do know is that I think he will become a good manager and, having played in great attacking teams, he knows exactly what he wants from his teams. He’s worked under and with greats too. He knows United inside out; he knows the soul of the club.

“He’s ruthless and capable of making decisions. He’s also done his badges. Whatever he does, he won’t be short of offers.”

United are in fifth place and 12 points behind surprise Premier League leaders Leicester City after 25 games.
