Anthony Martial: This ex-Man United star urged me to move to Old Trafford
Anthony Martial reveals that Patrice Evra urged the striker to move to Manchester United last summer
Anthony Martial has revealed that Patrice Evra played a part in convincing him that a transfer to Manchester United was a good idea.
The French striker joined the Red Devils from Monaco at the end of the summer transfer window and has since been a regular fixture in the United first-team.
The 20-year-old forward has scored six goals and made three assists in 20 Premier League games for Louis van Gaal’s men so far this term.
Martial says that he consulted with former United full-back Evra before deciding to join the Premier League outfit last summer.
And the former Red Devils defender did not have to do much to convince him that the move was a good idea.
Martial told United’s website: “Patrice Evra told me it was a ‘club of champions’, a club that above all else wants to win, and certainly since I arrived here I’ve felt that for myself too.”
Martial will be hoping to feature when United return to Premier League action with a trip to Sunderland on Saturday afternoon.
The Red Devils are currently six points adrift of the top four.
