Anthony Martial: This player is my Man United inspiriation

Anthony Martial talks up Wayne Rooney's impact on him at Manchester United

Anthony Martial has revealed that he looks to Wayne Rooney as an example at Manchester United following his transfer to Old Trafford in the summer.

The 20-year-old striker’s rise to prominence has been one of the few positives from an otherwise disappointing season thus far.

Martial joined the Red Devils from Monaco in September and has since been a regular fixture in Louis van Gaal’s first team.

The France international has been lining up alongside United captain Rooney in recent weeks and the young forward admits that the England skipper is a source of motivation for him.

Speaking to United’s website, Martial said: “[I improve] by training every day with talented players. Especially with Wayne Rooney, I learn a lot from him.

“I always try get inspired from him so that I can also become a great player.”

Martial and Rooney will both be expecting to feature when United take on Stoke City in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
