Arsenal loanee Wojciech Szczesny has insisted that Mesut Ozil is a better player than Cesc Fabregas.
The Spanish playmaker was a favourite at Emirates Stadium after he spent eight years at the north London club before eventually leaving to join Barcelona in the summer of 2011.
Fabregas was deemed surplus to requirements at Camp Nou three years later and subsequently ended up signing for Arsenal’s rivals Chelsea in the summer of 2014.
Szczesny, who is currently on loan to Serie A outfit Roma, has played alongside both Fabregas and Ozil for the Gunners.
And the Poland goalkeeper has brutally shot down the Chelsea midfielder by insisting that Ozil is the better player of the two.
The goalkeeper told Laczy Nas Pilka: “We used to have Fabregas and I couldn’t imagine anyone playing any better than him in the middle of the park, but then Ozil came and it turned out that you can
“In the beginning, moreover, he was heavily criticised because I bought it for the big money, and was expected to become the biggest star of the league.
“In training from the beginning it was evident that an exceptional player.”
Arsenal are currently gearing up for their Premier League trip to Bournemouth on Sunday afternoon as they look to get back to winning ways in the top flight.
Chelsea, meanwhile, host Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
